Historic Blakeley State Park
Historic Blakeley State Park in Alabama is 2100 acres of pristine nature preserve. The park is of particular interest to American Civil War enthusiasts. In April of 1865 the Battle of Fort Blakeley took place here. The battle for Fort Blakeley was the largest fought in Alabama with approximately 20,000 soldiers involved. Visitors can see several miles of original breastworks and fortifications. The park offers visitors many ways to view these, peruse the trails at your own pace, take a tour, enjoy the bike trails, or even horseback riding.
