The Fort Meigs Historic site in Ohio is a must-see destination if you are looking to explore the history and culture of the War of 1812. Located on the banks of the Maumee River in Perrysburg, Ohio, this historic site features an amazing replica fort of the one built by General William Henry Harrison where visitors can take a tour, learn about various military strategies used during this period, and appreciate the incredible architectural accomplishments of early 19th century Americans.

At Fort Meigs, visitors can follow in the footsteps of history and experience an unforgettable day learning about one of America’s most important wars. The fort's museum houses artifacts from the War of 1812 as well as interactive exhibits that provide a vivid look into what life was like for those at Fort Meigs during that time. Besides exploring the fort’s exterior walls and earthworks, guests can also visit two reconstructed blockhouses and a defensive earthen wall that gives visitors insight into both offensive and defensive tactics used by American forces during this war.

Outside of military history buffs, families visiting Fort Meigs will also find plenty to keep them occupied - there are plenty of picnic areas located throughout the grounds, as well as daily educational programming led by knowledgeable staff members who bring to life both local stories and broader historical themes surrounding this era. And with more than five miles of trails winding their way through the park’s majestic woodlands, no one will ever be bored during your visit! Each year, reenactors take to the field at Fort Meigs. Various events include the expected American Revolutionary War reenactments as well as events of other 19th and 20th century conflicts.

For anyone seeking to better understand America’s struggles for independence over 200 years ago, or simply looking for a great place to spend quality time outdoors with family or friends - make sure to check out the Fort Meigs Historic Site in Ohio!

Grimes Flying Lab
Urbana, Ohio
Located at Grimes Field in Urbana, the "lab" is a Beech 18 that served the U.S. Air Forces as a C-45 and was modified to a C-45H as a test bed for aircraft nighttime lighting systems. The aircraft was a valuable tool for engineers who worked for Warren G. Grimes - the father of aircraft lighting - before and during World War II to advance developments for safer flight at night. Grimes produced his first airplane lights in his garage in 1933 and by World War II his company had grown to produce lighting for military aviation. Besides memorabilia from Grimes' life and Grimes Manufacturing Co., historical and modern aircraft lighting products are displayed.
