About the Event

Located between Richmond and Williamsburg on the James River, scenic Fort Pocahontas is the site of the May 24, 1864 Action in which United States Colored Troops defended the fort they built against an assault by Fitzhugh Lee’s Confederate Cavalry.

  • 10-4 Saturday and 10-3 Sunday:
  • $10/adults,
  • $8/students
  • Battle reenactments both days.

See Civil War camps and enjoy history brought to life through family-friendly activities. For reenactors: pre-registration required starting January 10 at www.fortpocahontas.org; shaded campsites; Friday officers’ social; Saturday dinner and dance.
