Fort Laramie National Historical Site Weekend
The event is set in 1866. This is the time of Red Cloud's War across the plains. We will be running the Fort getting it ready for action. The military encampment will be busy all weekend with camp life, drill, cooking and talking to the public. Civilian camp we will be busy with life around the fort or the life on the emigrant trails. There will be a lantern tour as soon as the sun goes down on Saturday evening. Friday is set up - if you are coming in early, please contact us here at the fort so we can be ready to help. Friday evening the event goes live. Saturday we will follow the sounds of the bugle as we bring the fort back to life with soldiers and civilians. Sunday we will keep the fort running, expect a dress parade and the raising of the garrison flag.
