Berwick WWII Weekend

The Stuart Tank Museum in Berwick, Pennsylvania preserves the story of one of America’s most important World War II production efforts—and the small town that helped power it. During the war, Berwick was home to the American Car and Foundry plant, where more than 15,000 M3 Stuart light tanks were produced between 1941 and 1944, making it one of the most significant armored vehicle manufacturing sites in the United States.

Today, the museum stands as a tribute to both the tank and the thousands of workers—many of them local residents—who contributed to the Allied war effort. At its peak, the plant employed over 9,000 people and produced tanks at an astonishing pace, helping supply U.S. forces and Allied nations across multiple theaters of the war.
