The Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association (GBPA) is a non-profit organization that works to protect, preserve, and restore the historic battlegrounds of the Battle of Gettysburg. The GBPA was founded in 1959  and continues to work diligently to protect the hallowed ground of this historic site. The mission of the organization is to ensure that future generations will experience and appreciate its history by providing educational programs, preserving historical artifacts, engaging in research and publications, promoting public awareness, and advocating for adequate funding.

The GBPA has worked tirelessly to preserve the Gettysburg battlefield since its inception. It has successfully purchased land adjacent to the battlefield in order to maintain its historical integrity. They've launched an ambitious education program aimed at teaching adults and children about the importance of preserving our history through first-hand experiences on Civil War sites. In addition, they have been proactive in maintaining monuments on the battlefield grounds to honor those who gave their lives during this pivotal moment in American history.

In addition to preservation efforts for the battlefield itself, GBPA also engages in advocacy for educational initiatives related to Civil War topics such as slavery and race relations. Supporters can join the association or donate funds directly towards these programs which helps them further their mission each day.

A lot has changed since the GBPA was established but its commitment remains unchanged: protecting our nation's history so future generations can learn from it and revel in its beauty for centuries to come. No matter what changes may occur down the line, GBPA will continue working towards that goal with dedication and perseverance - preserving both our past and our future at Gettysburg National Military Park!
